Stayed here for 3x nights on business. This is a fairly minimalist experience. No gym, no business center, no 24/7 concierge. That said, if you're looking for a very accessible and clean room with a comfy bed and good interior, this is the place to stay. The rooms felt quiet and blocked the city noise well (even though its in a quieter area of town). No frills but really comfortable and easy to access. The surrounding area is quiet and calm and offers several options for eating and drinking like a brewery, cocktail bar, and chicken shack across the street. Lastly, its a walk-up, so while the front desk will help with baggage, if you're off hours, prepare to carry your own luggage up the stairs.

My husband and I stayed here in Oct/Nov 2025 because we had our wedding reception across the street at Lumi. My in laws booked a couple of the rooms and we stayed in Madame Lou's room. Our bed was super comfortable and the room was so beautiful to get ready in for our big day. The staff even left us a nice welcome/congratulations gift and note. It was so lovely - we highly recommend!

Me and my girlfriend absolutely loved the hotel! We came to Birmingham for a concert and wanted to stay in a hotel with some character that still offered great customer service and cleanliness. We got exactly that. Our room was the cleanest room I’ve been in and the bed was very comfortable. The best part was the customer service. Both people running the hotel were as nice as can be and you could tell how much they genuinely cared about the hotel and the customers. We will be coming back The Painted Lady every time we make it to Birmingham!

The Painted Lady is wonderful. The room was pristine and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. The office manager was super friendly and helpful. Check in and out was easy and quick. When the word gets out it is going to be difficult to get a reservation here.

My bf and I stayed here for one night of escape, and the rooms are truly beautiful with luxurious beds and showers. I love the preservation of antique buildings, but I only noticed a fried chicken joint, a barber, and two tattoo parlors in walking distance. Please be advised the lovely concierge leaves after 6 pm, and there are no elevators, microwaves, mini fridges, or coffee makers. Just a smart flatscreen, but this all suited our needs perfectly! The only reason I likely won't return is because as a light sleeper I could hear everything outside our door, LOL.

We stopped in Birmingham on our way to New Orleans for a night and stayed at the Painted Lady and we were absolutely thrilled with our stay!! This funky, pet friendly boutique hotel was fantastic in every way. We had secure parking for our car for the night and it's located in a very up and coming part of town, a short walk from a host of restaurants and cocktail & wine bars. We will definitely be staying there again and look forward to further exploring Bham!!

What a charming find is The Painted Lady in downtown Birmingham! My husband and I came from Florida for a concert and booked two nights at The Painted Lady! We loved it! A fairly new boutique hotel, The Painted Lady was elegant but not pretentious, comfortable and cozy. Our room was larger than I thought it would be and decorated beautifully. It had lovely bathroom amenities, including robes, and a little coffee and tea station down the hall. There is not a large lobby for lounging but there is an amazing craft cocktail bar in the same block that served as a place to get a drink and relax in the evening. Ashley at the front desk was absolutely the sweetest and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. There was no elevator which was not a problem for us but may be for others. Space for hanging clothes might be an issue for a longer stay but not for our trip. There was a small refrigerator at the coffee and tea bar in the hallway but not in the rooms. I am not sure if it is for common use or not. I highly recommend this hotel and hope we can get back to Birmingham soon for another stay!

Such a fun vibe at this place. Cool wallpaper on our rooms. Location is minutes away from great restaurants and bars. The staff greeted us at the door with smiles. The bed was soft and the shower was hot. Ill be recommending it to everyone I know.
